CHORES

2025.04.04
Housework is a wonderful opportunity to serve each other and practice selfless, humble love. We can show love for each other by caring for each other. God delights in all of this.

WHOSE TASK IS IT?

Do we dare to believe that if a man does housework, he does not lose his masculinity and that a woman does not become less feminine by allowing him to do it or needing help?

According to the Bible, we are to bear each other’s burdens, because this way we fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2.

In marriage, one lifts the other up and we are then equally yoked.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT

"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble."

There is a wonderful promise in this verse! When two of us do something together, we achieve great results, our labour fruitful!

That is why it is so much better to help each other, work together.

🙌I bless you to achieve good results together. Experience the love of Christ as you complement and support each other in everyday and extraordinary tasks. Dare to be women and men according to Christ.

TRUE MASCULINITY

There is wonderful power when a married couple work together, strengthening each other.

2 Corinthians 6:14 also says that it is not God's will for a yoke to be unequal. What is pleasing to our Savior is when both partners do their share of the work equally - whether it is in the household or/and in the field of earning money. This way, love is not damaged, the relationship can remain healthy and neither partner is physically overburdened.

Of course, there are many different cases.

🏠It may happen that the husband gets sick for a longer period of time, so then it is the wife who mainly earns money. Or the woman gets sick, so the husband does most of the housework in addition to work.

🏡There are couples where the husband is a very talented cook, but the wife is successful in her job.

🏘️But it may be that both partners are exceptionally talented in their work and in housework, but neither of them has enough time for it.

Love and the Holy Spirit can show them how to share the burdens

between each other, and this may be different in each case. But let us not judge each other because we have different circumstances.

Genesis 2:24 NIV "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

The married couple also forsakes traditions, if they do not bring a blessing to them. And they think of each other as a team. After all, we no longer have to stand our ground separately, but together with the power of Christ.

The other person is always there in your heart, beside you, behind you, just like Christ. Even if he/she is not physically beside you at work, he/she is still there in prayer, encouragement, and financial support.

JESUS AND HOUSEWORK

The man or woman who does housework resembles Jesus.

Luke 22:26-27 NIV "But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves."

A man who does housework is like Jesus. Because Jesus also serves, helps, and lifts us, his bride.

🙌 I bless you, so that you can serve together with joy and good results, and Christ through you.
